After the defeat of Apsu and Tiamat, the six doorkeepers of the Underworld (the anunnaki) escape from their realm to take revenge for their fallen elder siblings, the Utukki. This, in turn, causes all those who die to remain in limbo as the living dead as they infect the innocent on the Above World with their Sebatti Mirrors and raise hell on earth.
